Used primarily for background music, radio programming delivery and paging or data networks, FM Squared^® can boast superior power and reliability. This SpaceCom developed technology allows multiple audio and data channels to be transmitted using a single satellite transponder.

Reliability

SpaceCom has a 2.2 kHz channel specifically for paging control tone applications with 3.5 kHz voice, 7.5 kHz and 15 kHz (mono or stereo) available. Services are currently transmitted on the Telstar 5 satellite, Transponder 28 (protected and not pre-emptible). It has a 97 degrees west orbital location offering coverage of the continental U.S., southern Canada, northern Mexico and “offshore” of the Caribbean, Hawaii and southern Alaska.

Antennas of 1.2 meters are the size of choice, although 1.8 sizes are needed in some areas of the U.S. Gulf Coast and East Coast. The standard systems design provides at least 99.95% reliability throughout most of the Continental U.S., with 99.98% reliability from slightly larger antennas.
